Hallo. My name is Merel.

I’m a Multimedia Designer with a focus on the user.                              I design and craft products and experiences by combining storytelling and my studies of the customer's needs.

Good design is crucial for reaching customers.

People tend to forget how much design matters. Everything in your life has been designed by someone and every brand you bought from has convinced you so through design. If you are shown two almost identical products, but one more beautiful than the other, which one would you pick? The more attractive one, yes?

But not only aesthetic-wise is design important. You also want a product that "invites" you to use it, because it's made with the user in mind and with what the user already knows. This is how I design, using the principles as shown on the right.

Design Thinking

I operate as a design thinker. Problem-solving is sometimes simply not enough. As a design thinker, you think about your user and how they'll use your product.

Iteration

The best version of the product is never made on the first try. By daring to succumb to the trial and error process I try to go for the best design possible.

Visual Design

Not only for aesthetics (even though it should not be undermined) but also for user-friendliness. Interaction gets enhanced by good visual design through size, colour, and the use of negative space.
